HTML – 1 ‘What is HTML and How can we use it?’

What is HTML?

It stands for ‘Hyper Text Markup Language’. When we build a web page, HTML is used to create a structure of our web page. Let me bring a metaphor. A web page we want to build appropriately is a car. Then, HTML can signifies the car body. The CSS, which is the language to design a web page, signifies a painting progress to color your car. JavaScript, the language to dynamically control your web page, is definitely an engine of your car.

Basic, but essential tags

  1. <!DOCTYPE html> defines that this document is HTML5-based
  2. <html> is the root element of an HTML page
  3. <head> contains meta information about the page
  4. <title> specifies a title for the HTML page
  5. <body> defines the document’s body

  1. <p> defines a paragraph
  2. <a> defines a link.
    • You are required to use href (Hypertext Reference) argument to specify the desired link.
  3. <img> defines an image on your web page
    • You are required to use src argument to specify the path of your desired image.
    • You can adjust its size with width and height argument.

HTML was invented by Timothy John Berners-Lee, and He also invented the beginning of the Internet too.
